If you live in London and are one for great deals, you’d better sign up for Time Out’s mailing list. A few weeks ago, I got an alert for a great dinner deal at Kouzu, one of the Japanese restaurants that had been on my “to eat at” list for ages, so I bought two vouchers and went along with my friend Jenny one night after work.
Kouzu is located in Belgravia, just a stone’s throw away from Victoria Station. This award-winning restaurant is sophisticated without feeling too exclusive, with delicious food and friendly staff to boot! With the Time Out voucher, we had three courses and a glass of prosecco for £25 – very good for London prices. There’s still a few days left to buy the voucher here, but if you’ve missed the voucher deal there’s plenty of excuses to head on down to Kouzu.
We started with some kobachi miso soup to whet our appetites, then went with yellowtail in truffle and aubergine miso. Both were light, drizzled generously in a delicious sauce, and I could have happily had another plate of the yellowtail.
As we were choosing from a set menu, we had a smaller choice of main courses. The main menu has an impressive variety of dishes – and I’d personally like to return again to sample the lamb chops hoba yaki and alaskan black cod. This time round, I had a craving for tempura and Jenny for beef teriyaki.
The dessert of the day was a very moreish pannacotta! Other choices on the main menu include matcha azuki delice, apple tarte tatin and Kouzu chocolate dome. As you should know by now, I always base my opinion of restaurants at least partially by their desserts! In this case, I was very pleased.
I’ll happily go back to Kouzu again, next time to choose from their whole menu!
