WIN Lowlife Love with Third Window Films!

_150920_gesu_flyer_o_ENGet ready for another competition!

Third Window Films have licensed a lot of brilliant films this year, many of which I’ve reviewed here, so it’s good to be running a giveaway with them this time. We have two copies of Lowlife Love on dual format Blu-Ray/DVD up for grabs!

Lowlife Love is the first 100% production from Third Window Films, who teamed up with director Eiji Uchida to produce a darkly comic satire of Japan’s no-budget film industry.

Tetsuo (Kiyohiko Shibukawa) is a lowlife. A film director with a small indie hit many years back, yet he has never gotten any further as he refuses to go against his ‘artistic integrity’. He gets by exploiting his friend Mamoru (Yoshihiko Hosoda) and the students of his actors’ school. One day two new students come to his school: Minami (Maya Okano), a naive and fresh girl from the countryside who wants to be an actress and Ken (Shugo Oshinari), a scriptwriter.

Tetsuo thinks Minami could be a real star and Ken has a brilliant script which could relaunch his career as a director, with Minami his muse. With the help of Kida (Denden), an unsavory film producer, they strive to turn this project into something tangible, but Minami’s ability starts to turn the heads of other film directors, and soon Tetsuo’s world stars to unravel.

  1. I like films that tell the story of people and their dreams. I watched I wish yesterday, and like father like son. The Japanese films always have a whimsical feel with their close ups and flash backs.
I am interested in a film that makes a film, as well as the lowlife Tensuo producing more then a one hit wonder 🙂

  2. This one looks super interesting especially since it’s a film produced with a Western collaboration with Third Window Films, so I’d love to get a chance to own it

  3. Seems like a lot of people are saying this looks interesting; well, I can’t say I disagree. Think it’d be a nice release to own!
